CFPB complaints from military community up 13%

The CFPB has issued its Consumer Response Annual Report that provides an analysis of the approximately 320,200 complaints received by the CFPB between January 1 and December 31, 2017. (In 2016, the CFPB received approximately 291,400 complaints.) The report provides data on the most common types of complaints for each product and the handling of complaints.

Autos are a small part of military complaints to CFPB – The CFPB received over 19,000 complaints from the military community in 2015, up from more than 17,000 in 2014. One of the CFPB’s areas of interest is protecting military member, veterans, and their families from corporate abuse. Every year, the CFPB prepares a report on the top issues reported by this key demographic. In this year’s report, the CFPB cites a 13% increase in the number of complaints they received from this group.

Complaints & Satisfaction. The volume of credit card complaints filled with the CFPB in Q2 2019 decreased by almost 5% in the last year. Complaints related to "Closing/Cancelling account" (+16.6%), "Billing" (+15.0%) and "Identity theft / Fraud / Embezzlement" (+12.4%) increased the most during Q2.
